The lack of educational opportunities in Haiti is three-fold: shortage of funds for teachers, lack of educational facilities, and the country’s economic reliance on agriculture, which values child labor more than a child’s education. Without any education, Haiti’s children are left without any hope for a brighter future.
Boyer Campus School GCA provides education to 80 community children in temporary facilites on our main campus. These children have never gone to school and are on an aggressive educational plan to get them current with their age grades.
Due to the generous partnership with the John and Marine van Vlissingen Foundation, the construction of the first phase educational facility has begun and is schedule for completion for Fall 2012. When completed, the first phase will provide educational accommodations for 120 school children (80 community children along with 40 orphans living at the Amadeus Orphanage).
Tou Tou's Orphanage School The “TouTou” orphanage is located just outside of the Mirebalais city limits. The orphanage
houses 25 children (ranging from 6 months to 10 years old). These orphans were re-located from
Port au Prince earlier in 2010 where their orphanage was destroyed by the earthquake.GCA supplies basic school
uniforms and materials to these orphans. These children have never gone to school: GCA has
therefore put them on an accelerated educational track in order to help the children become
current with the education level of other children their age. Once per week these children will be
brought to the Boyer Property for recreation, English class, and computer lab. Help sponsor this school
The “Seau D’eau” Orphanage School The “Seau D’eau” orphanage is located about 4 miles west of the Boyer Property. 35-40 orphans
temporarily sleep at homes in the surrounding neighborhood and gather at the orphanage during
the day for school and activities. The main structure at the orphanage is currently uninhabitable.
GCA is helping to renovate the facility and get the school fully functional so that the children
can begin and complete their education. Help sponsor this school
