Providing Food for the Hungry
Poverty, malnutrition, high food prices, and natural disasters have created a hunger crisis in Haiti. Over 2 million people in Haiti are classified as being “food insecure,” which means that they are in need of assistance to stave off hunger. Poor diets has caused many to suffer with micronutrient deficiencies. GCA attempts to provide some minor assistance to Haiti’s hungry through the distribution of Family Food Packs. Teams of volunteers divide food into grocery packs which provides a family with one week’s worth of food.
