The “Amadeus” Orphanage
The main focus on the Boyer property site will be the orphanage. The orphanage will house 100
children when completed. The initial phase will be the construction of a first floor which will
house at least 50 children, with two “House-Moms” that will supervise the children during the
day. A copy of the initial layout design of the first floor of the orphanage is attached. The plan
is that the children in the orphanage will be in the 4 to 7 age range so that they ‘grow up’
together. By having the children with relatively the same ages, this will also allow GCA to focus
schooling on these age groups, bringing in the necessary teaching expertise as the children grow
older. Amadeus North America, Inc. and its employees have graciously committed to being the
main sponsor on this project.
The “Seau D’eau” Orphanage
The “Seau D’eau” orphanage is located about 4 miles west of the Boyer Property. 35-40 orphans
temporarily sleep at homes in the surrounding neighborhood and gather at the orphanage during
the day for school and activities. The main structure at the orphanage is currently uninhabitable.
GCA is helping to renovate the facility and get the school fully functional so that the children
can begin and complete their education.
The “TouTou” Orphanage
The “TouTou” orphanage is located just outside of the Mirebalais city limits. The orphanage
houses 25 children (ranging from 6 months to 10 years old). These orphans were re-located from
Port au Prince earlier in 2010 where their orphanage was destroyed by the earthquake. GCA has
invested its time and resources to renovate the orphans’ existing house. Prior to GCA’s
involvement, the orphans lived in a small, cramped single room, with nothing to sleep on except,
if fortunate, some cardboard boxes or newspaper. Through GCA’s efforts, these orphans now
live in a refurbished and expanded facility with a new roof, doors, windows, and a new dining
and kitchen area and bathhouse with complete septic and fresh water, and bedding. GCA has
also built another structure on this property which will be used as a boys’ dorm at the orphanage.
GCA has furnished the orphanage and continues to provide sums to help offset the cost of local
staff and food, periodic medical exams and related care. Staff at this orphanage includes 3
“house moms” with one other person serving as a teacher. GCA also supplies basic school
uniforms and materials to these orphans. These children have never gone to school: GCA has
therefore put them on an accelerated educational track in order to help the children become
current with the education level of other children their age. Once per week these children will be
brought to the Boyer Property for recreation, English class, and computer lab.
