The first container sent by GCA and partners is scheduled to arrive in Santo Domingo, Dominican Repulic this Thursday, February 4th. From there it will be shipped over to Mirebalais, Haiti, where we can distribute the much needed food and supplies to refugees.
Steps to Feeding Families
The container will be trucked from Santo Domingo to our property in Mirebalais
We will us the container for storage as new product is delivered. So far we have collected enough supplies to fill 6-7 containers. Our plan is to ship one container every two weeks.
We have hire local workers to help with the unloading of product from the shipping containers into our storage containers. The containers will be locked and have full security.
As the product arrives at our property it will be downsized into “family food kits” which will be enough food for a family of 6 for 1-2 weeks.
Local leaders will indentify “earthquake refuges” which have moved into Mirebalais. So far, local official estimate that Mirebalais has grown from 200,000 to 400,000 in two weeks.
Refuges will be given a personalized Food Card which will allow them to come to a designated site in Mirebalais to pick up their “food kit.”
We when have enough “food kits” we will work directly with officials & police for orderly distributions. Our hope is to have one distribution a week as long as the product last.
