Every generation has the challenge to provide solutions which will improve the quality of care for individuals in need, especially those in extreme need such as widows and orphans. Perhaps the Apostle James puts it best when he tells us that “pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress... (James 1.27).” Since 2000, Great Commission Alliance (GCA) has been active in Haiti, a country plagued by desperate poverty and deplorable human conditions.

The Need:
The country of Haiti is without any governmental infrastructure to provide health or social programs. Located only an hour and a half away from Miami, Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest countries in the world. With conditions like this, you can only imagine what happens to the women who have been abused or abandoned by their husbands and the helpless widow. These women live in extreme poverty (less than US$1 a day). Some live with their children in houses no bigger than a walk-in closet.

The GCA Women in Distress Network seeks to provide monetary support to women of good reputation who are widowed or have experienced abuse or abandonment from their husbands. These women have no personal or familial means to assist in their immediate needs.

Monthly Contributions:
Your contribution of $25 provides women enrolled with a weekly financial gift to assist with living expenses and resources to address special needs that arise. The number of women enrolled in the program will be contingent upon the amount of money contributed by our ministry partners.
