What the program provides
Cost of Living -
The money supplied by this sponsorship program provides widowed, abused and abandoned women with an income to help cover the cost of food, shelter, and clothing as well as helps to meet the needs of any children they may have.
Local Women's Group
Steady income is scarce for any Haitian and is almost impossible for the widowed, abused and abandoned women of Haiti. Besides the helpless orphan and children, these women are most in need throughout Haiti.
GCA has been striving to find the best way to reach this demographic and be able to provide the best care for those most in need. During the summer of 2010, GCA came across a group of local women from Mirebalais that would meet to strategize ways for providing for this demographic as well. The group gladly welcomed GCA to partner with them - GCA could provide the funding they needed to support the widowed, abused and abandoned and the women's group could better organize the distribution of funds to the ones who need it most.
