Went to the property this morning and prepared a truck load “boxes of love” donated by Rio Vista Church for a pastor from PauP. PauP is still in a lot of need so we give him some traps and water along with all the crutches, walkers and canes we had. He was suppose to come at 9:00 but he didn’t show. So we use the rest of the morning to organize the 2 containers we have on site for future containers. God has put together a great staff. Everybody is working together and working hard (having some fun along the way too).
Later in the morning we went to visit the Mayor about the future food distributions and tent village project. When we got to his office we were told that he just got called to a meeting in PauP. So we went to see Pastor Konal at New Jerusalem school and deaf orphanage to talk about the March teams doing medical exams and developing medical files on each child. As we journeyed to new Jerusalem the Mayor pulled right in front of us and wanted to talk before he went to PauP. We had a great meeting about the food and tents. The Mayor also told us how the schools have become over crowded with non-paying students – families that have relocated from PauP. I told him that we would see about a scholarship program. At the end of our conversation he told us about a school that really needed some food. We told him that we would keep this school in mind for future deliveries.
Now we are on our way to New Jerusalem only to discover that Pastor Konal wasn’t there – a lot of school children in class – but he was out. So we took the opportunity to visit the school that the Mayor mentioned. 900 students! Well to make a long story short we went and brought food and delivered it. Cheers as we drove up! (That’s starting to happen a lot.)
Got back to the property only to discover a group of 5 guys from Hungry for Life from Canada. They are “mission group brokers” connecting groups with projects. They heard about the Guest House and wanted to check things out. We’ll see if a partnership develops.
As we were talking the pastor from PauP showed up (2:00!).
Well, we loaded him up and sent him on his way!
Had a late lunch – went and visited Pastor Konal – good visit – only to discover that they didn’t had any food – went back to town and brought some food and brought it to them – deaf children don’t really cheer but their smiling faces and expecting eyes scream with gratitude! That’s a day in Haiti doing ministry and all of you had a part! Thanks!
